At REV, we know a company’s success is more than just profit. It’s the core values that are put into action each and every day, and the service to the surrounding community that makes all the difference. And, in that spirit of community service, REV Group employees and family members recently partnered with the City of Decatur for a REV Rivergreenway Trail Cleanup Day.
As a long-time, predominant employer in the great city of Decatur, some of REV RV’s biggest motor coach brands are brought to life across the 719,000-sq. ft. campus that consists of six buildings and offices, three production lines, as well as one of REV Parts’ nationwide distribution centers. The quality of REV’s Class A, B, and C motorhomes is reflected in the employees that live within Decatur, who have chosen to give back on countless occasions in the form of community outreach and support, like the recent cleanup day.
Held on Saturday, June 2, 2018, along the city’s Rivergreenway trail system, the event featured more than 146 volunteers decked out in bright red safety t-shirts. Volunteers met at the north and south ends of the Decatur bike trail to make quick and efficient work of the beautification effort. Along the way, debris and trash was removed from the path, leaving it open for future scenic walks and bike rides.
Pat Terveer, VP and GM of REV RV Group’s Class A product lines presented the bike trail cleanup to Decatur plant employees at a staff meeting. Needless to say, the proposal was met by a resounding response. And, when Terveer brought the idea to Decatur Mayor, Ken Meyer, the Mayor immediately took him up on the offer to “make a greater Decatur.”
As part of our ongoing commitment to sustainable practices and positive societal impact, we’d like to thank all trail cleanup volunteers from the REV team and those from the City of Decatur who participated in the event. Not only did it display the core values we instill at REV Group, it was also a show of community spirit that we plan on bringing to more cities, like Decatur, in the future. With 21 manufacturing facilities and more than 7,400 employees located around the globe, REV is determined to be more than an employer, but rather a dedicated community partner, for years to come.
