REV RV BRAND TO OPEN NEW SOLAR-POWERED FACILITY DEDICATED TO CNC MANUFACTURING

As the first RV manufacturer to implement the use of CNC-based manufacturing methods in the everyday construction of ultralight, composite-built travel trailers, it’s fitting that Lance Camper’s latest extension of this innovative technique comes in the form of a brand new, solar-powered 66,000-sq. ft. automated manufacturing facility. Set to be in full production mode by quarter 4 of 2018, the facility is currently testing the manufacture of Lance Camper parts.

Computer numerical control (aka, CNC), is the automated process of cutting and transforming chosen materials into precise shapes and sizes using exact measurements. This not only allows for the consistent cutting of materials but ensures accuracy of the parts that go into each Lance Camper product. Or, as Lance Camper puts it, “Quality is found at the intersection of experience and innovation.” In this case, the precise CNC machinery is part of their innovative process, and the experience of the Lance team is what results in quality that consumers can trust.

Yet another example of REV Sustainability’s economic goal to develop and implement eco-friendly processes at every stage of the manufacturing process, Lance’s integration of 660 solar panels located on the facility roof is set to produce the majority of the facilities total power requirements. With the ultimate goal of creating a 100% self-powered manufacturing floor for all of Lance’s walls, floors, and ceilings.

The new facility brings many advantages to Lance’s manufacturing process, including:

  • The ability to increase daily unit production by 30% for a total of 22 units per day
  • A new overhead laser system that projects templates onto the part so that staff can easily and consistently place components in the exact location to ensure precision and quality
  • The inclusion of high-pressure pinch rolls that form the walls, floors, and ceilings using state-of-the-art gluing machines
  • Complete temperature and humidity control to ensure proper bonding of materials to increase quality while reducing the chance for delamination of parts after purchase
    • This is also a distinguishing feature not many other competitors can offer to provide long-term customer satisfaction
  • A 5,000-sq. ft. break room for staff at the Lance Camper, Lancaster, CA, facility
  • And, a 4,000-sq. ft. product display area that will feature distinguishing Lance products that can be used for retail dealer sales, staff training, and customer tours

Further demonstrating our commitment to REV Sustainability initiatives, the new facility will also utilize 30 skylights for natural lighting, automatically-adjusting LED light panels and state-of-the-art recycling systems for all qualifying materials.
